Frequently a client will want a table similar to one they have seen on my site but with a custom variation. That variation might be a different size, choice of woods or perhaps a combination of aspects from different tables.

Wood has a warmth and charm like nothing else. The colors and the grain are so full of interest. Take almost any piece of wood and look how beautifully the grain and color runs through it.

In earlier times craftsmen learned early during their apprenticeship to work consciously with the inherent qualities of the wood, choosing grain, color but with awareness of the nature and behavior of the wood in a specific context. There are "rules of thumb" that were all but forgotten and are now being rediscovered to the delight of furniture makers and fine furniture lovers. It is this "spirit" of craftsmanship that modern day woodworkers and furniture craftsmen are trying to recapture.
